5 Important Rules in Website Design
By Roy Fielding
When it comes to your website, extra attention should be paid to every
minute detail to make sure it performs optimally to serve its purpose. Here
are seven important rules of thumb to observe to make sure your website
performs well.
1) Do not use splash pages
Splash pages are the first pages you see when you arrive at a website. They
normally have a very beautiful image with words like "welcome" or "click
here to enter". In fact, they are just that -- pretty vases with no real
purpose. Do not let your visitors have a reason to click on the "back"
button! Give them the value of your site up front without the splash page.
[Side Note: Exception to the rule would be for
traffic exchanges, as
splash
pages work well in this type of traffic generation]
2) Do not use excessive banner advertisements
Even the least net savvy people have trained themselves to ignore banner
advertisements so you will be wasting valuable website real estate. Instead,
provide more valuable content and weave relevant affiliate links into your
content, and let your visitors feel that they want to buy instead of being
pushed to buy.
3) Have a simple and clear navigation
You have to provide a simple and very straightforward navigation menu so
that even a young child will know how to use it. Stay away from complicated
Flash based menus or multi-tiered dropdown menus. If your visitors don't
know how to navigate, they will leave your site.
4) Have a clear indication of where the user is
When visitors are deeply engrossed in browsing your site, you will want to
make sure they know which part of the site they are in at that moment. That
way, they will be able to browse relevant information or navigate to any
section of the site easily. Don't confuse your visitors because confusion
means "abandon ship"!
5) Avoid using audio on your site
If your visitor is going to stay a long time at your site, reading your
content, you will want to make sure they're not annoyed by some
audio
looping on and on on your website. If you insist on adding
audio, make sure
they have some control over it -- volume or muting controls would work fine.
(As a lot of you know, I use
audio a lot. but I have auto start always
off...with an option to play or not)
6) How to do less work and come out in
profit
I myself have lots of businesses on the net and ones I like best are one
that people make for me
leaving me only to market the sites that I belong to, and collect the
profits or even residuals that
they bear monthly. A couple of my favorites are the
Software
Gold Club and
Dave's
Online Video Training... both highly rated by me and both
yield residuals monthly.
I hope these tips helped,

Discover How Edmund Loh Made
$100,443+ in less than 3 months...

You’ve probably heard of the
Private Label Rights Extraordinaire Edmund Loh.
In a nutshell, he pulled off the fifth and final Private Label Rights Gold
launch back in September 2007 when:
- Edmund successfully recruited over 483 affiliates and Joint Venture
partners before the launch,
- He had 2,378 people subscribed to his Advanced Notification List from
around the world,
- He bagged more than $65,000 in just 7 days,
- Went on to make $71,000+ in 10 days and later escalated to exceed $100,000
in total sales in
only less than 3 months!
And Edmund was only 20 years at that time of the launch!
So for many reasons, if he can do it, I firmly believe that anyone else
can do it too...
... Provided they are equipped with the right knowledge and education to
begin with
(notice that resources didn’t make it to the top list?)
My friend and Internet Marketer, Dennis Sim, took the trouble to ‘kidnap’
Edmund at his house,
placed the mic in front of him, and forced him to spill the beans!

Here's
my story...
On
August 1st, I signed up for the
15 Days
of Summer JV Giveaway. I had been invited to participate
in these events before, but never had the time to set everything up.
Besides, I wasn't convinced that it would be worth my time...
Boy
was I wrong!
In the
first 13 days, I added
1,012 new
subscribers to my list and banked an extra $1,193 in pure
profit from one-time offers, up-sells and back-end sales.
To
tell you the truth, their one-time offer didn't convert that well.
Only 5 people bought the regular offer and 2 people purchased the up-sell.
That's less than 1% conversion. But hey, $386 is nothing to complain about!
...because I had a one-time offer of my own and 13 people bought it for
another $351. But it didn't stop there...
...because I also added an up-sell and made another 4 sales for an
additional $268. But that still wasn't all...
...because I also had a back-end product to sell and $188 was added to the
tally for a grand total of $1,193.
Would you like to know how I did
it?
Of course you would...and I'm
about to show you. See, I documented every step I took and created an
easy-to-follow guide that shows you how to build a profitable opt-in list
from JV Giveaways. And you can
download
it right now for less than a fast food dinner...
